Purofort® is the unique Dunlop® material with millions of evenly distributed air pockets making it lightweight and thermally insulating plus a cross-linked structure that provides flexibility and strength. Purofort guarantees you long-lasting comfort.
THE UNIQUE DUNLOP MATERIAL
Purofort is a unique material, developed by Dunlop in 1980. It has millions of evenly distributed air pockets, making your boots extremely lightweight and thermally insulating. The cross-linked structure provides flexibility and strength. Watch the movie to see how Purofort gives you long-lasting comfort. But be warned: once you’ve tried on Purofort boots, you’ll never want another boot again.
PUROFORT OUTPERFORMS RUBBER AND BASIC PU
In the early 1980s, Dunlop reinvented rubber and produced its first Purofort® boots. Purofort® boots are the best in class Polyurethane boots. On all important aspects Purofort outperforms rubber boots and basic Polyurethane. Worldwide over 10 million people are wearing these unique boots every day.
MILLIONS OF AIR POCKETS PROVIDING COMFORT
Purofort contains millions of air pockets. Because they are mixed under high pressure, they are evenly distributed. This is quite unique, as Dunlop is the only boots manufacturer in the world that uses high pressure technology to produce its boots. And it’s very beneficial for you: thanks to the evenly distributed air pockets, Purofort provides extreme thermal insulation, keeping your feet warm in the coldest conditions. And because air and solid material are optimally mixed, Purofort is lightweight and comfortable.
OPTIMAL LIFE SPAN DUE TO MOLECULAR STRUCTURE
Purofort is extremely flexible and cut resistant, due to its molecular structure. This structure contains hard and soft blocks. The hard blocks make your boot resistant to cuts and abrasion, giving them a longer lifespan. The soft blocks allow for a thinner shaft which increases flexibility and comfort.
THE SECRET DUNLOP RECIPE
Purofort is a unique material. It has a secret recipe, only known to Dunlop. For each type of Purofort boot, a specific recipe is created in the Dunlop lab. The ingredients depend on the application and the required properties of the boot.
THE DUNLOP RING
You can recognize a real Purofort boot by the Dunlop Purofort Ring. It’s not only a distinguishing brand feature, directly showing the quality of your boots to the world, but you can also use it to hang your boots to dry or bind them together after your shift.

SRC CERTIFIED SLIP RESISTANCY
The SRC classified boots meet the most stringent requirements for slip resistance and comply to both SRA and SRB. SRA slip resistance is tested on ceramic tile floors covered with a dilute soap solution, while SRB slip resistance is tested on steel floors covered with glycerine. The tests are based on measuring the coefficients of friction in forward heel slip and forward flat slip state. The results provide a good indication of the actual slip resistance of the boots in practice on slippery tile and steel surfaces.
PROTECTIVE TOE CAP AND PROTECTIVE MIDSOLE
The boots feature a protective toecap and midsole for offering maximum protection against falling and penetrating objects. The built-in protective toecap serves to protect the toes from impacts of an energy level of 125 J and a compression at a load of 11121 N (2500lbf). The protective midsole is positioned in the sole and penetration is prevented until a force of 1200 N (270 lbf).
Dunlop boots with a protective toecap and midsole are labelled as Full Safety
Purofort® boots prevent heat loss and offer outstanding thermal properties. Due to the unique recipe and molecular structure, all Purofort boots assure excellent cold insulation down to -20 °C. And even down to -50 °C in case of Purofort Thermo+ boots. Purofort boots are classified as CI, meaning that the temperature decrease measured at the upper surface of the insole does not exceed 10 °C after 30 minutes.
By design, the boots offer a perfect fit, optimizing comfort for everyday use.
The boots are 100% waterproof to keep your feet dry under wet and dirty conditions.
FUEL OIL RESISTANT
The outsole is resistant against oil, which assures that potentially adverse effects of oily substances on the protective properties of the boots are minimized.
The boots offer protection against a wide variety of chemicals. The specific application with types of chemicals encountered and conditions faced will determine which boot should be opted for.
The boots feature energy absorption of the heel region which limits impact to the foot while walking. The provision of shock absorption capabilities within the footwear minimizes risk of injuries.
The static dissipative properties of these boots provide a resistance of between 1 MOhm and 100 MOhm, when applied voltage of 500V for 5 second. These boots avoid electrostatic charge and eliminate the risk of electric shocks.
